  • OnePlus released OxygenOS 5.0.3 for the OnePlus 3/3T.
  • The update includes Face Unlock, the latest security patch, and more.
  • You can either wait for the OTA to hit your device or manually flash the update.

As we close in on the OnePlus 3 and 3T’s second birthday, OnePlus did not forget about its 2016 flagship smartphones and pushed out OxygenOS 5.0.3 to both.

The highlight feature is Face Unlock, which debuted on the OnePlus 5T last year. You can also find Face Unlock on the OnePlus 5 and newer OnePlus 6, though it is a nice surprise to see it on the OnePlus 3/3T.

Face Unlock works similarly across devices. Once you dive into Settings and tap the “Security & lock screen” section, you then tap Face Unlock and “Add face data.” Make sure to hold the OnePlus 3/3T eight to 12 inches from your face and align your face into the circle for a short period of time.

Once you do that, all you have to do is look at your phone, press the power button, and you are in. Keep in mind that Face Unlock is not as secure as a fingerprint or password, though it is convenient to just look at your phone and go from there.

Elsewhere, OxygenOS 5.0.3 introduces a visually-refreshed Shelf, new design for app shortcuts, new weather widget, “Large files” category in the File Manager app, map view of photos by location, and a “Recently Deleted” collection in the Gallery app. The update also includes the May 2018 security patch and compliance with Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) order.

OxygenOS 5.0.3 is rolling out to the OnePlus 3/3T, so do not worry if you do not see the update yet. Alternatively, you can manually flash the update at the links below.
