Earlier this month, ZTE launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund its Project CSX phone, Hawkeye. Details have been pretty scarce about the phone for the past few weeks, but ZTE has finally started revealing more and more details about the upcoming phone. Today, the company has revealed full hardware specs (well, almost) for the phone, which it plans to begin shipping and selling in September, if the Kickstarter campaign is successful.
Previously, ZTE said the Hawkeye would have a 5.5-inch HD display, dual rear cameras, a fingerprint sensor on the back, and Android Nougat out of the box. Today, the company confirmed that Hawkeye would have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor running things inside, along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage, with microSD support up to 256GB. The dual rear cameras will have sensors of 12MP and 13MP, with optical zoom support. It will also have a 3000mAh battery, with support for Quick Charging 2.0 and a USB Type-C port.

There are a few other unique features on the Hawkeye that you should know about, too. One is a front-facing camera designed to detect the motion of a person’s iris, which can then be translated into any number of standard Android commands. The other feature is a self-adhesive case for the phone that will allow it it to stick to walls and other surfaces, so that the phone could be used without any kind of finger interaction at all, at least in theory.
ZTE also plans to post a poll on its CSX website that will allow people to vote on 15 different colors and materials for the Hawkeye. The Kickstarter campaign is slated to end in just over a month, but so far, as of writing this post, it has only raised a small percentage of its $500,000 goal. The only reward tier in this campaign is $199, which will allow you to get one Hawkeye phone when it is released, again assuming the campaign reaches its goal. If it does not make its goal, ZTE will still give all of its $199 Kickstarter backers one of its current phones that is priced at about the same level as Hawkeye.
