This IT pilot fish is working under contract at a government facility, along with one other IT person — a junior tech making considerably less.
“We both worked for Company A, and we liked the company and its benefits,” says fish.
“Then the contract was rebid. Company A lost the contract, and Company B won it.
“After the announcement, I called the contracting officer and asked what was next.
“Contracting officer told me there shouldn’t be a problem with me and my co-worker staying with Company A and still continuing to do the same work.
“‘You can work as a subcontractor to Company B,’ he said.
“‘Just one thing: Your salary has to be less than half of the contract value…'”
