nextbit robin review aa (2 of 20)

Nextbit is to launch the Nextbit Robin in India on May 25 after receiving regulatory approval earlier this year. The company has begun sending media invites to a launch event in India on May 25 and the move will also mean that Kickstarter-backers in India will finally be able to get their hands on their new phones.

Nextbit had previously announced plans to launch in India at the end of April but a regulatory hold-up means the launch was pushed back. It’s unclear how much the Robin will cost at launch but with the initial US pricing coming in at $399, (approximately Rs. 25,000), we’re expecting a very similar price. The Robin recently launched on Amazon US and it’s also likely that Amazon will be one of the launch partners in India.

To recap the specifications, the Nextbit Robin aims to address the issue of limited storage, through a unique cloud-first approach. It sports a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and is powered by a Snapdragon 808 processor. Also on board is 3GB RAM, 32GB internal non-expandable storage, NFC and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The storage is complimented by 100GB free cloud storage space through Nextbit Cloud.

Other notable features include 13-megapixel rear camera – which has been vastly sped up since our review with the latest update – a 5 megapixel front facing camera, a 2680mAh battery and a USB Type-C charging port. On the software front, the Nextbit Robin launches running Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Nextbit’s own user experience running on top.
