Power outage takes down the office where this IT pilot fish works, so after he makes sure everything is OK he’s sent home.

“Power was not expected to be restored that day because three power poles were taken out by a traffic accident,” says fish. “I had powered off the UPSes to stop the beeping noises.

“Four hours later I got a call from my boss — it sounded like he was in his car — who said power had been restored. He said he tried to bring up the servers but didn’t know which of the UPSes were working and which ones weren’t.

“All he could restore was the phone system, by moving the power plug to a different UPS. I must have missed one. He also admitted to ‘pushing several buttons on different things’ but nothing seemed to work.
