Samsung has begun to roll-out the latest Android Security Patch for the Galaxy S7 Edge in South Korea. The update, which clocks in at just over 120MB, was initially thought to be the current month’s patch, however after checking the system information details, it is in fact dated April 2nd, 2016. For reference, the update was downloaded on the SKT variant of the Galaxy S7 Edge, model number SM-G935S. It carries the Baseband Version G935SKSU1APCF, Kernel Version 3.18.14-7542290 (dated Thursday March 24th) and Build Number MMB29K.G935SKSU1APCF:

It is likely that the standard Galaxy S7 variant on SKT is also receiving its April security patch update, however at the moment only the Edge model can be confirmed. It is also likely that the country’s other two major carriers, KT and LG U+ will be receiving updates as well, if they are not already in the process.

While several models of the Galaxy S7 around the world – such as those on T-Mobile in the USA – began to receive an update with the March security patch earlier in the month, the Korean models – at least the SKT S7 Edge – was still on the February patch as of this morning. It is therefore assumed that the carrier opted to skip the March patch entirely and move onto the April one instead.

Customers around the world in similar situations, i.e. those with models still on the February security patch, are likely to see their devices put on a similar update path, although it can not be confirmed at this time. Several posts on XDA Developers in recent days had indicated that the March patch was just now rolling out to some users in the UK.

The best solution for those worried about their device’s vulnerabilities should make sure to hit the settings menu, select “About device” and then manually check for updates. Readers are encouraged to leave comments below, especially if there are other territories that have already started to receive the April update.
