Google is super-keen on virtual reality. That’s the obvious conclusion of a management shuffle that saw Clay Bavor told to focus only on VR and his other duties given to ex-VMware boss Diane Greene.

(Yes, Bavor is now VP of VR. I swear, sometimes this stuff writes itself.)

But why the mad goldrush now? Could it be, as one wag put it, FOMO (fear of missing Oculus)? The Facebook-owned company might look like one more strategic threat to Google’s monopoly^H dominance.
