LAS VEGAS — MasterCard on Tuesday announced Groceries by MasterCard, a service designed to work with Samsung Family Hub refrigerators shipping this spring.

Samsung’s newest refrigerators will include an Internet-connected display on the front, called the Family Hub, where the MasterCard grocery service can be accessed. In addition, a companion Groceries by MasterCard mobile app can be used for ordering and paying remotely for groceries.

Betty DeVita, chief commercial officer for MasterCard, said groceries can be ordered at launch from FreshDirect and ShopRite; eventually, the service will offer access to thousands of grocers.
