In August, I wrote a blog post detailing Laravel’s future. I spoke of my plan to spend half of my time on Laravel while spending the other half of my time at UserScape.

Having every other week to work on Laravel has been great, allowing me to make a lot of progress on Laravel 5. But, to bring Laravel and Forge to their true potential, even more time is needed.

So, beginning January 1st, I will take my place as UserScape Graduate #1 and begin a new journey of working on Laravel full-time.

The benefits for Laravel are tremendous. When I began working on Laravel part-time, I doubled the amount of time I could spend on the framework. Beginning January 1st, I will double it again. The success of Laravel and Forge exceeded my wildest expectations, but the best times are still ahead of us.

The goal is simple: developer happiness from download to deploy. Laravel is about more than code – it’s about improving our quality of life as developers. And, beginning in 2015, achieving that goal will become my full-time passion.

Finally, I must give a hearty “thanks” to Ian Landsman and the rest of the UserScape team for all of their support of Laravel. Not only did Ian take a gamble on a young Laravel, he invested in it with his own time and money. I’m very grateful.
