Technical writer pilot fish is working with the Desktop Support team, and as soon as a new version of iOS is released, support guy has fish immediately update his iPhone.

“Shortly after that, I got a notification,” says fish. “It read: Your device, iPhone 2718281828, is currently running iOS Version 9.3, while the current version available from Apple is 9.2.1.

“I sent an email to the support team, suggesting that they investigate their notification templates. I then got a notification that a ticket had been opened for my ‘software upgrade.’

“It seems that the offshore team that handles such matters gets paid for each ticket they create. The local support guy got in touch with me and confirmed that things were fine.”
