It’s February 1978, and this company has just installed a refrigerator-sized minicomputer, according to a pilot fish on the scene.

“On the day after Feb. 28, the system clock showed Feb. 29 as the date.” fish reports. “We figured the system didn’t know how long February was in non-leap years, and we reset the clock to March 1.

“At the end of March, we were pulling an all-nighter to prepare some documentation for a client. In the wee hours of the morning, we printed the final version to ship to the client. When the client’s people received it, they asked, ‘Why does every page show a date stamp of March 32? Is this some kind of April Fool’s joke?’
